Botulinum toxin type A is a therapeutic muscle-relaxing agent that causes the weakening of overactive muscles. It will effectively weaken the muscle for a period of three to four months. Mechanism: Botolinum Toxin Injection contains botulinum toxin type A, which is a toxin produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. Botolinum Toxin Injection blocks signal transmission at the neuromuscular junction by preventing the release of acetylcholine from the presynaptic terminal. The effect is reversed when the preterminal neurite sprouts and reinnervates the muscle. The level of chemical denervation is dependent upon the amount of Botolinum Toxin Injection injected into the muscle.
Conditions treated by Botolinum Toxin Injection: Botolinum Toxin Injection is used to manage a variety of disorders like Hemifacial spasm, Cervical Dystonia, Blepharospasm, Facial synkinesis, Post-stroke Spasticity, Writer’s cramp, cerebral palsy & Chronic Migraine.
